Home is what you make it

WOAH! I slept like a baby last night, it might of been my combo of Lavender, Valor II, and Frankincense last night, but I definitely think it was all the work I did yesterday! I had no intentions of getting anything done yesterday, except for the fact that I go out of town for a week and am going to leave a husband here alone so if I didn't get anything done it could of looked worse. (My disclaimer to that last statement is that I am like the tazmanian devil when I come through the house, so typically Chris is like FEMA and cleans up after me, definite roll reversal). So I came home and looked at my poor out of comish husband curled up on his hard air mattress in the living room watching golf and thought to myself THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE MY DAY! So I got to work!

First things first, cleaner! I cleaned out underneath our kitchen sink and I had cleaner under there that I bought 3 years ago!! YUCK!! It stayed good for 3 years so what kind of crap is in there, nothing that I want to clean my house with thats for sure. So I whipped up a simple but effective cleaner:
1 capful of vinegar
10 oz of hot water
10 drops of lemon oil
The oil can be changed depending on what you plan to accomplish, but lemon is a great disinfectant and smells wonderful! So I have my cleaner and I'm ready, right? Wrong my ADD brain skipped to the next thing I wanted to do. I wanted to build a shelf for our spare bathroom. The story behind this shelf is both of our bathrooms are moderately small, and neither have room for 2 people at one time. So getting ready together is an absolute nightmare. I decided to take over the spare bathroom, so when school gets back in session I can get ready and not bother my sleeping beauty. Well before you build a shelf you should clean the floors its sitting on. So I cleaned up that spare bathroom nice, I mean cinderella style with sparkles on the floor! Then I built this:

This was my inspiration from Pinterest : )
Don't you hate when you find something on Pinterest and there are no directions on how to make it? Me too! Luckily my personal Handy Manny, Bob the Builder is only a text/phone call away (that would be my dad, best contractor EVER) and he always has an idea on how to make it pretty easy. So I went on the hunt for crates. Target, to expensive. Michaels, changed their coupon policy and only takes 1 coupon per transaction. SO it was Joann's, they let you have a coupon for each item! So the crates were already painted white (which saves time) at $15.99 a piece and I had enough 40% off coupons for all four (1 from michaels, 1 from hobby lobby, and 2 from joanns) which made each crate $9.60. The wood glue was $3.49 so total cost was $41.89! Pretty AWESOME! Here's how you make it (CAN WE MAKE IT?? YES WE CAN):

1. Put glue on top of bottom crate and bottom of the crate to be attached
2. Attach the two crates and line them up (this will not be a perfect line on the middle rows, but can be perfect on the front and sides)
3. Clamp the area together (I did not have clamps so I used painters tape wrapped tight and heavy books)
4. Repeat for the other crates
5. Allow to dry for hours, best for 24 hours
**Watch for dripping, if glue drips just wipe with a damp cloth**

Finished product
(I repurposed an old basket to hold my hair dryer, curling iron, and flat iron)

So back to cleaning! I did the baseboards and doors and frames and found a neat trick to wipe them with dryer sheets to help keep from dust collecting. I did this in every room! Wow that was a lot of baseboards. The cleaner I made I used to mop the floors and they look great, even the laminate wood floors!

Then I was looking at our collage wall I put up about TWO MONTHS AGO. We have been staring at picture frames for TWO WHOLE MONTHS! It didn't even bother us, is that a bad thing? We had friends over a few weeks ago and they asked us about our invisible family, well there they are! HA! I finally sent all my pictures off to Walgreens and found an awesome 50% off coupon code so had them all done for $8. I decided it was time to put them up! We did! Here's the end result! LOVE LOVE  LOVE IT!

By the time I was done with that it was time for dinner. Tonight was something new for us, Sausage and Peppers. Being from an Italian family this was a pretty big staple for parties in our house, except my pork allergy always held me back from eating it, so I never learned how to make it. I watched it enough that I decided to wing it!

1. In a large skillet heat a tablespoon of Olive Oil
2. Cut up your Peppers (1 red, 1 yellow, 1 green) and your Onion (I used a sweet onion)
3. When the oil is heated and skillet is hot add peppers and onion
4. Keep them on medium heat constantly stirring so they do not burn
5. In another skillet cook your sausage over medium heat
(we use turkey sausage and I cut them into thirds)
6. When the onions and peppers seem soft, add 4-8 oz of tomato sauce ( depends on how saucey you want it)
7. Cook until the amount of sauce reduces to half
8. Add sausage and serve!

We had ours with garlic bread, another great idea is over pasta or rice, or even on a hoagie roll.

Now it's time to relax! NOPE! I was still going, why did I have so much energy?? So I knew I needed a tray to hold my oils and though to myself, well I have this old box, and some scrapbook paper why not repurpose the box for a tray. So I did. It took about 15 minutes. I cut the top off the box, wrapped in in scrapbook paper and used modpodge to adhere the paper. It came out looking great!!

Start

finish

In action!

Now for real it is time to relax! I had a very crafty day, a clean house, a happy and fed belly, and a new space that I get to call my own to get ready in! I think that was a very productive day. So I think I slept well because I was so productive, however I would never write off my diffuser combo : )

Why I will not be participating in this years Ice Bucket Challenge

Last year there was a lot of hype around the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. This challenge consumed our lives, between getting them emailed to us, doing interviews, having golf channel take over our house, and answering the nonstop question of "Are you the Chris Kennedy that started the Ice Bucket Challenge" I mean by the end of September we were pooped. This challenge meant a lot to us! Here's the short version of the progression:

  • Chris got nominated for an ice bucket challenge in July
  • Chris took the challenge in a friends back yard and called out 3 people to take the challenge or donate to the ALS Association
  • Those three friends took the challenge for the ALS Association as well
  • One of those friends was my cousin Jeanette (her husband is suffering from ALS)
  • She called out her friends
  • Who called out their friends
  • It eventually reached the network of Pat Quinn (another ALS patient in Yonkers, NY, a town over from Jeanette)
  • His network ran with it as well and then it reached Pete Frates (a Boston College baseball player who got it in even bigger spotlight)
  • What turned out to be a joke made an international sensation and raised millions of dollars
So this seems great, right? Why wouldn't I want to participate this year? Here is why, first researchers have gone out and outright said that this will never reach the viral outbreak it did last year because, well, it's not new anymore. Did it feel good in those hot hot summer months to dump ice water on your head? YUP! Would I do it every day if it took away an ounce of Anthony's pain? YUP! The reality of it is it did its part it put ALS front and center and now people are talking about it! Before this challenge people would say "your cousin has what??" and I would go into detail about Lou Gehrig and they would know what I was talking about. Now people say "oh ya that disease that kills your muscles that we all dumped ice over our heads for."

The problem with this challenge is the fact that some people turned it into a way to make money for themselves. Who wants to profit from someone else struggles. The Anthony Senerchia Jr. Foundation gives 100% of their proceeds back to people suffering from ALS, where some take their proceeds for their own benefits. The ALS association is putting their proceeds to research, and keeping their organization running, not to buying a house for themselves and their family. I saw myself wondering why people were fighting to be the original ice bucket challenge starter (if that's even what you call it). What was the glory behind it? Did we have any monetary benefit, NOPE! Did it help our careers advance, NOPE! Did we have a good time and put a smile on Anthony's face, YES! If Anthony asked me tomorrow to dump ice over my head so he could laugh, I would do it.

I will not be taking the challenge this year because quite honestly I do not want to see the power struggle over who started it pop up again. I am glad it happened in the first place, and words cannot describe the outcome that came from it and how unbelievable that was! I will gladly make a donation to the ASJ Foundation and my local ALS Chapter because that is important to helping others with the disease find some comfort and relief. I love my cousin dearly and am so happy to have been apart of something that will no doubt be the largest viral fundraiser in history. Last summer it was all about gaining awareness, this summer should be about maintaining your donations and keeping that awareness alive. Why does it need to be with an ice bucket? Are we in a society where we can only keep talking about something by drawing attention to ourselves, instead of silently giving a donation and helping others understand while we are out and about why this is so important? Think about this before you pick up the bucket, maybe just take a click on the computer and give a donation : )

I'm leaving on a jet plane...

Hello Blogger World!! (really I mean hi mom and my few Facebook friends that follow me)

Sorry I have been MIA but I have been on to GO! As soon as summer hit I was like HEYYYY VACATION!! First I went home, which is only a 3 hour car ride through cow pastures, but I went there. I went there for what was supposed to be 3 days, and it turned into 10! THANK GOD I brought my diffuser with me or else I would feel naked.. For real though! I diffused Lavender every night and my sleep was never disrupted (which is always a challenge when out of town.) When I returned home   I had 3 days and then it was on an airplane to New York City!

So if you know me, you would know I HATE FLYING. I mean loathe it. If you could teleport that would be my method of travel ( I mean I guess it would be everyones method) but if you hate flying it would definitely be your method. So I hit the books, what was going to keep me calm and not clawing at my neighbor. First thing was first I upgraded to even more space (JetBlue might have the most leg room in coach, but that extra space, especially the front row helps BIG TIME) and then I packed ALL of my oils! ALL 15 of them in a ziplock baggie in my carry on! My go to for flying was this:
(this picture shows valor, really I have Valor II)

So when I boarded the plane I had a man next to me who was a veteran flier! I found him wiping his seat down with lysol wipes!! WHAT?? He asked me if I would like to have one for my seat, I said no thank you I came prepared and whipped out my bottle of Thieves. Before I started wiping my seat I placed a drop on my thumb and put it on the roof of my mouth to help with all the icky germs that you catch while flying. Then I put a few drops on my hands and rubbed them together and rubbed my seat down. The veteran flier seemed impressed that I was so prepared. He was even more prepared with a Publix sub and his own cookies, but hey no biggie!

Next I had to calm my nerves and since I boarded first I had some time before take off. I whipped out the Valor II and Lavender and rubbed those on my wrists and behind my ears. (I had a backup stash of nerve calming medicine in case this didn't work, but I didn't need it once.) Both of these oils have been known to having calming properties. I felt nice and relaxed right at take off!

Once we got in the air I get a bit of motion sickness this flight wasn't bad but I inhaled some peppermint and put a drop in my water to help with that. I didn't have a problem from there on on the rest of the flight. I just kicked backed put my feet up (you can do that in the front row because theres a wall in front of you) ate my blue chips and watched some TV while browsing free wifi! It was a pretty sweet flight. Before I knew it we touched down in NYC! I did all of the same things on the flight home as well!

While I was in New York my daily use of oils stayed the same, except I did not have a diffuser. I did get to share the oils with my sister and brother in law. He had very bad dry cracked feet (that kind of looked like they could be infected) so I looked up some things too do and I made him an awesome soak! I did warm water mixed with baking soda, thieves and lavender. He soaked for about 30 minutes and then lathered up with Eucerin Cream and covered them up in socks. It seemed to help, but like most men he did not keep up with routine! It was still awesome to show them that there are other ways to help your body than things that are not all natural for you.

I promise not to stay away for long this time! HAPPY JULY (AND HALF WAY THROUGH 2015)

It's not clean unless its....

So I was watching TV  and saw a Clorox commercial, and at the end of the commercial it said "It's not clean unless it's bleach." It got me thinking.. Do not get me wrong I stockpile bleach in my house! WE HAVE WHITE TOWELS WHY WOULD I NOT HAVE BLEACH??? (side note do not buy white towels) So last night I was playing around and needed to clean my kitchen floor, because its not cleaning the floor when you just vacuum (even though thats what the hubs things). So the grout in one spot has been kind of spotty since we moved in 4 YEARS ago, and trust me I TRIED BLEACH! It didn't help. So I took to google, pinterest, and other oil boards to see if my handy dandy new oils could help me out. VOILA! I found tons of ideas, except some of them included oils I didn't have. So I used what I read plus my common sense to make a cleaner. Here is what I did:
(be aware do not shake bottle with lid on, swish it around before the lid because as you might remember from 7th grade science class vinegar and baking soda make a volcano)

It really did do wonders. The hubs was watching TV in the other room and said how good it smelt. Neither of us enjoy the smell of bleach but that's what we knew to use. Yes this does take a little bit of prep work, but it does clean just as good, IF NOT BETTER, than BLEACH! So now my saying is "It's not clean unless it's Kennedy's Cleaner"

He's starting to get it

So last week the hubs came back. Like most men, he relaxed and caught up on time change then went out and played 36 holes of golf! WHAT?!? Don't get me wrong golf is pretty cool, especially when its your passion and you get to do it for work, but who wants to play 36 holes in a row?? Anyways the next morning he woke up in pain in his ribs and back.. My go to for this would be PanAway, but I lent that out to a friend so I only had my coconut oil and peppermint.. I lathered that on him and he was like OHHH it's like IcyHot or BioFreeze but not sticky! Thats when I wanted to do a Face Palm and say DOH! Anyways now he kind of gets it.. He was a little off guard last night when I didn't put the diffuser on ("because he likes the water sound") we really know he likes the scents, but I ran out of lavender : ( Convincing him was my ultimate goal, so I am half way to winning!!

I did just receive my grapefruit oil, I haven't got to try it that much yet just diffused this morning to kill the odor in the air (I ran out of Purification as well). I keep looking for new ways, I have seen its  go to for weight loss, but I have not tried it!

Below you will see a recipe for a sugar scrub I made last weekend for a bridal shower I was throwing! It is my go to for smooth silky legs and arms!

(make sure to keep in an airtight container like below)

An Open Letter To Students

Dear Students:
Today we say goodbye. Remember at the beginning of the year when we met? You were unsure of me, and I was unsure of you? Remember all the learning curves we had to go through together? What you liked, what I liked? What we needed so we could both be successful? Well guess what we made it! It wasn't easy, but nothing in life is going to be easy. Life is about learning and growing with your surroundings. I like peace and quiet, you liked loud and noisy, but together we found a calming peace!

Remember when you told me you didn't like me? I know I still had a smile on my face when I responded with "ok" but that hurt. It hurts because I care about you. The next day you came in and hugged me and we started all over again. That's how life works, you take it one step at a time, each day is new.

Remember when you told me I meant the world to you? Well little did you know you are my world. Each day I wake up excited to see your bright face. Each day I wonder what new adventure we will find. Remember when you were so excited you could finally read a whole book on your own? You told me I taught you well. Well kid, you taught me. You taught me what it was like to be happy with the simple things in life. To see so much heartache before 7, but still have a smile on your face.

Remember when you needed new shoes, so I got you some? I did that because I love and care about you and need you to feel wanted. Because you are wanted, you are special! That same day you tore up my classroom and told me you wished I was never your teacher. I just cleaned up the room and said ok we will try better tomorrow and guess what tomorrow came and we did try better!

My job is to teach, your job is to learn. Sometimes those roles get reversed. Kid you taught me a love that I did not know existed. You taught me to care about something bigger than myself. You taught me to see the world in a new light. You say a teacher is a hero, but you are my hero! You wake up and get yourself to school each morning, do your best to learn, and go home and take care of yourself each night. Somedays it might be rough and somedays you might want to give up, but don't!

You are the best version of you that you can be! You are enough! You are more than a test or a body in a classroom! You are my student, my kid, my baby, and you are special. You are unique, one of a kind. Somedays you might be grumpy, angry, and all out hostile, but I know your love for your teacher will show tomorrow. Remember there is always tomorrow. Remember the teacher that is there to care for you at school. Next time you want to show that angry side remember my teacher loves me and cares for me.

Thank you kid for teaching me how to see the world. Thank you for molding me into a more adaptable teacher. Thank you for teaching me that every student is not the same, that every student is going to be treated differently, but most of all THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME TEACH YOU!

With Love,

Mrs. Kennedy

Where is summer????

Man this teacher is so ready for SUMMER!! I was like aww man my audience must miss me (what audience, lol) I'm pretty sure my readers are my mom, my 3 friends, and myself! (I joke a little)!

But lets get back to summer! SO SO SO READY! So ready that I have finally been able to kind of relax and feel myself getting sick! So anyways my throat was killing me and I was like "AINT NO BODY GOT TIME FOR DAT" so I whipped out that Purification and Thieves and rubbed it all over my neck, for two days! WOULD YA KNOW IT?? I feel so much better.. Like no swollen glands!!

I am a true believe now, because boy do I get sick a lot! I also have been diffusing Thieves like crazy and Lavender for sleep. Its no joke in my house it smells like an OIL HEAVEN! I am going to be cleaning my classroom tomorrow with Thieves and Lemon to kill those germs and make it smell so fresh for summer school kids to arrive!

I will get back to posting about different oils after I get my act together and clean up this classroom! Until then ask questions and I will answer away! WOOHOO!! Did I mention I cannot wait until summer??

Don't drink and.....

What did you think?? This was going to tell you not to drink and drive, well don't do that! Thats a give in! Some people I would say don't drink and text, or don't drink and blog.. Which leads me to why there was not a post yesterday! This girl was a little to happy to be celebrating the almost end of school.. BUT on a side note if you have a glass of wine and wake up with a headache there's an oil for that! Anyways I was going to blog about drinking some oils and tell you about a few more in the starter kit : )

Yes I said DRINKING some oils. Peppermint in your water, is YUMMMMM! Drink out of glass always! Why, well 1 because I have always been told so, and 2 the oils can break down the plastic which can cause toxins to be drawn into your water! Peppermint, Lemon, and Grapefruit is called the weightloss trio. I personally do not have Grapefruit (yet) mine is on the way but I drink peppermint in my water in the morning, and lemon during the day! Sometimes I will drink peppermint in my green tea in the morning. Peppermint gives you a nice boost of energy and Lemon its detoxifying.

So lets talk FRANKLY about Frankincense. When I saw this I thought what the what?? Why in the world do I want my house to smell like a Catholic mass. When I was younger my mom put me in a Catholic school, this was tough because WE WERENT CATHOLIC, and trust me I was not in my element. Well I shouldn't say completely my whole side of my dad's family was Catholic so I wasnt a stranger to the Mass, but still I was an outside. Tangent over lets get back to the oil. So I saw Frankincense and I thought thats weird because I remember that smell from mass and it was G R O S S! So I started doing some research on the uses, and then finally decided to try it in my diffuser the other day. Here is what I found:

  • Helps aging skin when mixed with Lavender and Coconut Oil morning and night
  • Helps heal and reduce appearance of cuts and scars
  • Take internally to boost immunity
  • Soothes children when applied with coconut oil onto their feet * (please read on oils and kids before trying anything with your kids)
  • When applied directly on spine it helps with back pain
  • Diffuse to uplift mood, combat sadness and anxiety
  • Relieves stress when applied to temples and wrist
  • Cough and irritation can be soothed when applied on neck and throat
  • Apply 1 drop to acne to help clear skin
  • Massage into sore joints
  • Soothes irritation of itchy, dry skin
I bet you want to try this oil now don't you?? Those are some awesome benefits!

So Frank is now in my use, and I do not have flashbacks of my Catholic school days!

I will be anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Grapefruit oil so I can try the weight loss trio.. I was just reading about people making body wraps with different oils and how it actually worked!! That was interesting because its prime bikini season in Florida now!! Like always questions are welcomed!!

My Lucky 3

So yesterday I went on and on about the benefits of Thieves. A month ago if you said to me "I will tell you the benefit of thieves" I would of said "what benefit is there to having someone steal from you??" Ok I am bad at humor so I will stick straight to the point. Tonight I will tell you about 3 different oils that I L O V E <3

First is my nighttime diffuser combo. Guess whats in it!! Your right THIEVES! My go to combo lately has been Thieves, Lavender, and Purification! Love these and I sleep so soundly and wake up feeling great! I will not go over thieves again but here are the others:

  • Lavender (I like to call this my Peaceful Bliss)
    • soothes the pain of minor bruises
    • promotes relaxation (can be diffused, inhaled directly or applied to bottoms of feet)
    • Reduce allergy symptoms for adults and KIDS, yup I said KIDS (internally or diffused)
    • Relieve dry, chapped, or irritated skin
    • Relieve cold sore symptoms
    • Lavender and Coconut oil combined can help sunburned skin (YUP FLORIDIANS YOU HEARD IT)
      • This also helps alleviate rashes and itch
    • Adding to the bath with or without epsom salt
      • This is the most relaxing bath, great before bedtime!
    • IF YOU CANNOT TELL THIS IS FOR RELAXATION
      • Also helpful for scrapes, cuts, burns, headaches, bacteria, cramps and fevers
  • Purification (I talked about this with my skincare)
    • Cleans the air and neutralizes foul or stale odor when diffused (EVERY Italian SHOULD own this and a diffuser) (SERIOUSLY!!)
      • This also works placing a few drops on a cotton ball and adding to your air vents in the car, home or office
    • Traveling soon?? Inhale this during flight to help protect against pathogens (this air is recirculated so that person hacking up a lung in coach, yup their air is coming up to you in first class, paying extra isn't going to keep those germs away)
    • A drop on insect bites helps stop the itch and cleans the cut
    • BLEMISHES.. Read my skincare post to see how I use it daily!!
    • Rub on your sore throat to ease that pain
    • Freshen your laundry
      • add a few drops to wash
      • or my favorite is an old rag or towel with a few drops of purification and a drop of lavender or citrus fresh in the dryer (this is a great way to freshen up those jeans you have worn 3 times already, yup GUILTY)
    • Put some on a cotton ball and add to your stinky tennis shoes, FRESH and SO CLEAN CLEAN
So this sums up my nighttime 3, but you get a bonus because technically I only told you about 2 and the third one was yesterday!

Today I fell in love with LEMON! Something I use all the time... We use Lemons in our waters on our food in cooking, but who would of thought to use it in your CLASSROOM! As you can tell I am a First Grade Teacher, and our school year ends in 7 days!! YES 7 MORE DAYS!! I am H A P P Y, but on the downside we have to strip our rooms for summer school. So that means the dreaded marker on my board that has been there for a year has to come off.. So I had some Lemon oil with me today and I said " Hey Self try that Lemon Oil to get this marker off" and guess what IT HELPED LIKE ALOT!!! Here are some other benefits to Lemon Oil as well

  • Lemon
    •  Ingesting or diffusing while studying helps retain information
    • Tap Water got you down, a drop of Lemon will help kill the Germs
    • Rub on calluses, corns, or bunions
    • Reduce Heartburn with 3 drops of Lemon in water
    • Uplifts mood when diffused
    • Degreaser
    • Removes hard water spots from dishwasher when added
    • Remove sticky residue
      • Helps remove gum from hair and carpet
    • Removes crayons from walls (sounds like a MOM must have)
    • Some other uses are bloating, lethargy, energy loss, anxiety, brittle hair and nails, mouth sores, cough, and infections!

This Oily Teacher is T I R E D! Lemon will have to get me through my morning! As always feel free to ask questions!

Skincare and Germ Killers, what else does a girl need???

So I have been playing around with my oils a lot lately! My best friend just left yesterday to go back to Colorado and we had a blast while she was here! She is opening up her own spa in Durango, CO so if your ever out that way check her out at The Zen Den Body and Skincare Durango! While she was here she fell in love with my oils so much that she decided to buy a kit for her business. AWESOME! My first sale and I didn't even have to tell her anything, these things really just sell themselves, but I am in no way here to sell anything this is pure informational! You may contact me if you are interested in trying and I will help you out in any way I can!

I mean look at that glow!
So lets start with my new skincare routine! When Erica was here she gave me the most amazing facial, but I cannot have her here all the time so I need an esthetician in a bottle. I have been doing this for a week now and I am in love!!! I use Khiels moisturizer, just a small tiny amount the size of a pea, and then I add 2 drops of purification and 1 drop of lemon. First this gives me an amazing glow and second I smell wonderful all day!

Now I have decided to go through one or two oils each post with its benefits and why I love it. The first oil I am going to post is about THIEVES! This literally is a germ killer in a bottle. This oil can be topical, aromatic (inhaled), and dietary (ingested). I use this all three ways! Every teacher, mom, and just human on the planet should have this! This is going to be my classroom disinfectant next year, and I will diffuse it when the kids leave each day! LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS STUFF! LIKE FOR REAL THOUGH! Below is how I use and then some other uses:
  • Each morning I wake up and I place a drop on my thumb and hold on the roof of my mouth to help aid in building my immune system and fight against the germs the kiddos spread around all day.
  • I have rubbed on the bottom of my feet at night to help with fighting cold symptoms as well.
  • Diffuse, sometimes with other oils like Purification, to help make the air smell clean and kill mold or any other airborne germs.
  • I have not gotten into oil pulling yet and frankly I am afraid to try it, but I have put a drop of Thieves on my toothbrush and brushed around to help gum health and overall oral hygiene.
Other uses I have found through my research and what others have shared with me:
  • Relief of cold and flu symptoms (outlined above)
  • 2-4 drops in water and gargle to relieve a sore throat
  • apply to throat and back of neck (with a warm compress) to relieve a sore throat
  • Diffusing into the air will help kill 99% of airborne germs and mold
  • Relieve a painful toothache with a drop on the area around the gums
  • Applying to the roof of your mouth also aids in headache relief
  • Cleaning any hard surfaces to kill the germs, mix in a spray bottle of water and just spray and wipe
  • Safe to clean your pets cages with
Young Living also has a full line of Thieves products: cleaner, spray, wipes, mouthwash, dental floss, toothpaste, soap, and lozenges.

Feel free to ask any questions or if you just want to know more :)

Thanks for joining me on this oily journey of mine!

A drop a day keeps the doctor away....HOPEFULLY

So I have had my oils for 5 days now and to say the least I am OBSESSED! A few things I have been doing with my oils are fighting migraines, trying to build my immune system, and well relaxing! Heres a break down:

  • In the morning I use1 drop of Thieves on my thumb and hold on the roof of my mouth. This is a headache remedy, but also helps fight sickness and build immunity.
  • I diffuse Peppermint and lemon if I need a boost in the morning as well.
  • 1 drop of Peppermint in my water to help with any stomach issues!
  • If I have a blemish I rub a little Purification on that bad boy to help draw out those toxins
  • Some Joy on my wrist to help me throughout the day, because just like its name it brings me    J O Y!
  • At night if I take a bath I will do a couple of drops of Lavender and Purification in the bath water to help relax, sometimes Stress Away if I had a rough night.
  • I will diffuse Thieves when I get home if I have been around sick kids all day.
  • To help with sleep I will diffuse lavender before bed and it makes me sleep like a baby!
I have been on Pinterest and Google searching things since I opened the box! I have been asking friends for tips and tricks and they are probably sick of seeing my name on their screens with questions, but I want to know it all! This is a way of life, it is not just something I am going to do for a week. Below is what I found and it helped my headache immediately!

So far my oily journey has been amazing! I cannot wait to continue this path because lets face it I am now an oiler! I am placing my next order and cannot decide, I want to order it all!!!!!

So I ordered oils

FED UP.. Those were the words I said to my husband before I took the $150 plunge into Young Living. Why were those my words? One word, MIGRAINE. I have suffered from migraines since I can remember, probably 9th grade. I think then I blamed them on Algebra, but I guess it really was just something going on in my body. If you are a sufferer then I AM S O R R Y because I feel your pain! So anyways why did I decide on oils? Well lets talk about what I have done first:

  • Massages- these help, but lets face it who has the money to shell out every time you get a migraine? I can say I pay monthly at a membership place and this has helped eliminate the number of migraines I get! (look into Massage Heights or Massage Envy, both have similar plans and you get a massage for around $50 a month)
  • Chiropractor- LOVE LOVE LOVE going POP! My insurance changed and this is around the cost of a massage for me, so that was just not helping the teacher budget I am on.
  • Caffeine- I am an addict, but I tried cutting it out. That DID NOT help! It made it WORSE!
  • Diet Changes- I have tried cutting out sugars, no changes. Tried not drinking alcohol. NO HELP! I even tried not eating meat (if you knew me that was hard because I love beef, like ALOT) this didn't help either.
  • Medicines- Any migraine medicine the doctor tried, made me even more sick. So then I was taking migraine medicine to help the pain, getting sick, and taking Zofran to help with that. Who wants two medicines?
So this is where I looked at my husband and said those two little words FED UP! I had seen friends post about essential oils and have read a lot about it so I decided to do research, and this stuff is real. So I finally reached out to a friend and said "hey whats up with this, is it going to help me." She's a teacher too, and she sold me on the fact that there was a blend that helped kill germs and sickness and help your immune system, so after a few days of muddle through articles and researching different companies I said SIGN ME UP!

She sent me a wealthy of info, and I am not good at reading everything, but I did because no one wants to sign up and then the next month be told HEY YOU OWE ME MORE MONEY! So I took the $150 plunge and got the starter kit, which included a diffuser, umm cool!!! Guess what happened the day it got delivered?? YOUR RIGHT! MIGRAINE! SO I whipped that thing out so fast breezed through the packets and grabbed the bottle I was told that helped with that and slapped it on. 15 minutes later I am relaxing on the couch with my husband watching TV and I dont feel like I need to die and guess what PAIN IS GONE! I was shocked.. So I have been playing around for the last few days with them, and I AM SO IN LOVE!!

This is the beginning of a long journey, which has already turned into a love story!
